Social Accountability Local Observatory “ Mdhilla”

The Social Accountability Observatory is a program that aims to install an observatory in Gafsa governorate for social accountability. This observatory included civil society activists from different associations in the region. The observatory members undergo a training that consists of equipping them with the necessary knowledge and techniques  of accountability such as :Budget tracking, score card and grassroots campaigns that later were employed to evaluate the municipal council’s performance.

The observatory members held an awareness campaign in the region to spread the notion of social accountability among citizens and especially youth.

In its final phase the observatory’s members applied their acquired knowledge of social accountability in holding the municipal council accountable , Updated the map of the region and identified marginalized sites that need development, and created a green space in a problematic area. Form a civil society committee within the municipal council to oversee the project and ensure its sustainability.
