A round table on integrating the gender approach in draft laws


The "From My Rights, Your Women" Network for Social Accountability, in partnership with the Civic Pole for Development and Human Rights, and the Tunisian League of Youth organized a round table on integrating a gender approach in the draft laws organizing elections for local groups. And that on Thursday, October 1, 2015 in Tunisia
The meeting aims to discuss and develop the political paper prepared by the network on youth and women representation in municipal elections. The meeting was attended, in addition to a group of civil society organizations, Mrs. Jamila Dabash Ksiksi, People's Representative, and Mr. Anis Amimish, a consultant at the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Physical Education, assigned with a mission when writing the state for youth.
The discussion concluded on the policy paper presented to:

• Conducting a national consultation on the presence of women in the leadership tasks of political parties, in the absence of clear statistics for this purpose.
• Work on a youth representation of 30 per cent in local group council elections.
• Fixing parity between women and men as a constitutional principle and preserving the same wording in Article 24 of the Electoral Law for legislative and presidential elections.


• Supporting coordination between civil society, the government and members of the Assembly of the Representatives of the People in order to demand the inclusion of a gender approach in the legislative framework for municipal elections, as presented by the political paper.
Then an agreement was reached on the next action plan for the next phase between the “From My Right Women” network, the participating organizations, representatives of the ministries of youth and women, and the deputy


• Holding a working session with the ministries of youth and women in the next few days in order to further develop the policy paper, especially that the Ministry of Youth is working on submitting a proposal for this purpose.
A meeting with the General Administration of Local Communities.
• A meeting with the Independent High Authority for Elections.
• A meeting with the General Legislation Committee in the People's Representatives Council.
